In 2007, her part as a character in Cristian Mungiu's Romanian art film, 4 luni, 3 weeks, 2 days (4 months, 3 weeks and two days) earned her the Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2007 and two additional awards: the Cinema Prize for the French National Education System as well as the FIPRESCI Prize. The film also featured her in Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. In 2008, she played Yasim Anwar for the BBC Five-episode mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca played the role of Oliver Hirschbiegel in Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie.
