Carey was 5'10 in height before she stepped up to the top model. Her popularity with American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father was a prominent geoscientist and was awarded the title of Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey has traveled throughout the world as a result his career. When she finished her studies at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started modeling on the side. The idea caught the attention of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. She briefly spent time and studied in Paris prior to returning to New York. Her modeling as well as her college career took off and she appeared on Glamour's, Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. When she was modeling, she continued to study in full-time a major in literature within New York University. As time passed, she was drawn to acting, and began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. Her debut as an actor was as a character alongside Robin Williams in the 1986 film "Club Pardise. When she is not working she loves skiing or windsurfing. She also enjoys climbing mountains as well as whitewater river rafting.
